Grapheme colour is a type of synaesthesia where people associate colours with letters, numbers and sometimes other sequences such as days of the week.
There are 2 types: associators which see the colours in their mind (I am an associator) and the rarer projectors who actually see the colours in their visual perception. A more accurate term for associative synaesthesia may be ideasthesia.
This tool allows you to colourize text to represent it the way a grapheme colour synaesthete would see it. It could be useful to aid in visualization and memory.
